An Introduction To Wise Registry Cleaner

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Wise Registry Cleaner is one of the most popular programmes for cleaning and keeping it a good system registry. The registry is the core of your computer when it comes to storing all sorts of settings, security and hardware options and much more information about your computer.

Just about every programme that you will ever in store will install various keys in the registry. These keys to note certain types of settings, customization options, personal settings and details about all the programs that you have uninstalled before, and various details about the usage of your computer.

Over time, you will probably noticed that your computer has become less responsive. This is especially true if you have a computer which you use heavily, and after about six months to a year, it starts to slow down dramatically. This is where a program such as Wise Registry Cleaner comes in very useful.

Wise Registry Cleaner is a programme which stands over these and does what you simply can’t do manually. For example, when you uninstall a program, it often leaves keys in the registry. These keys are no longer valid and essentially, you still have plenty of traces left of your program once you on install it. Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn’t seem to be able to handle this very well with all of its operating systems.

This is just one of the many reasons why you need a program such as Wise Registry Cleaner, and you should consider it of the same amount of importance as having a reliable virus scanner on your computer. All of these problems are usually easy to fix, but again, fixing them manually, is generally not a viable option.

Problems which cause issues with reliability and decrease the performance of your computer can often be put down to the system registry. If you look at the registry yourself, by typing in ‘regedit’ in the run command from the start menu, you’ll notice that it has tens of thousands of keys. There is no way obviously that you can look over the registry yourself and fixing an individual problem can take an extremely long time to hunt down manually.

Wise Registry Cleaner will scan over your registry, find any duplicate entries, invalid entries and any other errors that you may have on your system registry. Depending on how heavily use your computer, minor errors will appear very regularly and serious ones less often, though much more than you may think.

You can download the program for free and it will give you a free scan of your computer. This will give you a much better idea of how your computer is running and what you can do to dramatically improve performance and reliability. You will no doubt be very surprised at the number of problems it picks up. The most of these problems are fairly minor, they all mount up together and can cause some more severe problems.

Shopping For Uninterruptible Power Supplies

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

To many PC users, UPS are a key tool in their office or home work station. To others, the entire idea of a USP seems too complicated and expensive to get into. Here we attempt to dispel that myth. Setting yourself up with a UPS can, in fact an easy and inexpensive process, as well as an investment.

While home computer users may be able to neglect the need for an uninterruptible power supply and only experience minimal repercussions for it, anyone who is in charge of maintaining a communications network or workstations at the office would be unwise to go without a UPS.
Sooner or later, there will be a problem. Either a power outage, a surge, or a blown fuse. In any event, problems with your power supply can destroy an entire day’s worth of work, or worse, destroy the workstations themselves. It only takes a single power surge at the wrong time to completely fry a hard drive. Same rule applies for those running communication networks. If you’re running a Wifi hotspot at your coffee shop and it goes out, there’s a good chance that your customers will find somewhere else to get their work done.

A UPS, then, serves as an insurance policy against these expected occurrences. While many are reluctant to make the investment, it will actually save you quite a bit of money in the long run. You can obtain a basic UPS unit for under forty pounds. This is a much lower price than what you’d pay to repair a damaged computer and hire a computer recovery team to salvage whatever files they can from the hard drive.

From a financial standpoint, it is simply a question of whether you want to spend a little bit of money now, or a lot of money later, as it is not a question of whether or not you will eventually have a power related problem, but when.

If you use a reliable UPS unit, then these problems are solved for you before they ever occur. Even the most basic uinterruptible power supply backups will provide you with several minutes of power, if the power was to go out, in order to save what you are working on and safely shut the computer down.

In short, an uninterruptible power supply is simply an insurance policy against the inevitable power problems that we all experience sooner or later, and by spending a little bit of money now, you can potentially save hundreds, if not thousands in the long run. Anybody in charge of maintaining workstations, running a Wifi network, or, really, just about anyone who relies on computers in any way shape or form in order to make a living would be wise to make the investment.

Learn How You Can Use Yahoo Mail with Outlook

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Do you have a Yahoo Mail account you would like to or need to use with Outlook? If so, you’ve come to the right place. This article can show you the steps you need to follow to make Outlook and Yahoo Mail play nicely together. Once you get this set up, You’re really going to like the convenience of having access to all your mail messages in one place. You’ll enjoy being able to use Outlook’s familiar interface for all your work, instead of being stuck with a different way of doing things for each account.

You can only use your Yahoo Mail with Outlook if you have a premium Yahoo Mail account. That means, you must use either:

  • A Yahoo Mail Plus account ($19.99 per year)
  • A Yahoo Business Email account ($9.95 per month)

Yahoo won’t let you connect to Outlook or any mail reader besides their web-based one unless you are using one of their paid mail services. But its easy to convert a free Yahoo Mail account (the kind that most people start out with) to a Mail Plus account is simple. http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com/ opens a new window that walks you through the Mail Plus upgrade process. Close the new window once you’re done with the upgrade so we can configure Outlook to work with it. And don’t worry. If you’ve already upgraded to a Yahoo Mail Plus account, the Mail Plus page will tell you that you don’t need to upgrade.

The steps required to configure Yahoo Mail Plus and Yahoo Business Mail to work with Outlook are very similar. But before we talk about that, you need to be aware of something. During the configuration process you will be telling the Yahoo mail servers not to keep copies of messages on the server once you view them with Outlook. This means they will not be visible from the Web once you read them with Outlook. Under normal circumstances, this is the way you want to set things up, since having more than one copy of a message in existence at one time will surely cause you confusion and frustration, and is something to be aware of.

With that out of the way, let’s move on to the configuration process, The detailed procedure you have to follow to complete the configuration depend on the particular version of Outlook you have. To make this as easy as possible, there are two separate procedures, one for Outlook 2007, and the other for earlier versions. To keep this article from getting gigantic (and to make it easy to update the procedures should they need to change), the procedures are listed on the Living With Outlook (http://www.Living-With-Outlook.com) website instead of right here.

How a man in a bar fixed my computer

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

I have suffered of late from what seems to me to be the slowest most annoying computer ever. The man I was talking to was my friend Brian who is a total computer geek. I discussed my computer problems with Bryan and asked his help picking a new computer. Bryan took some time to ponder my query and while stoking his beard stated “I don’t think you need a new computer”. I reiterated to Bryan that I really did after all my computer was running very slowly and was annoying me to such an extent that I have genuinely considered destroying it with a house hold implement. In fact I was a little mad with Bryan for not recognizing my pain. However Bryan went on to explain his thinking further and said “I think the problem you have is Windows registry errors mate”. Although I am sure what Bryan said would make perfect sense to the average computer geek to me he might as well have been speaking Dutch. Not wanting to seem foolish I carried on as if I understood Bryan and said “Ah I see”. At this point Bryan had clearly noticed from the spaced out look in my eyes that I really had no idea what he was talking about. He took out a pen and paper and scribbled upon it the name of a web site fix-this-computer. He then went on to explain that I should visit this site and look under the fix windows registry errors section and from this I should select an option for a free registry scan which would identify and registry errors present on my computer and after this would give me the option to repair them. I followed his instructions and now my computer runs like a dream, thanks Bryan.
