311 has had their fair share of ups and downs. Before they entered the music scene, the band has already been through some tough experiences like being on the verge of poverty and switching band members. But despite all that, they were able to keep their focus on their music.
All of their eight albums ranged from alternative to rap to funk to reggae to heavy metal. The success of their albums can be highly attributed to their extensive touring all over the US and other countries to promote their songs.
Their first album, Music, was released in 1993. Despite being released more than a decade ago, it can still command attention from fans all over. Its single Do You Right received fair airplay and reached number 27 on the Billboard Modern Rock Charts. But despite this, the album did not do very well when it comes to sales.
This is where one can be confused with identifying a successful song or album. Most of the times we only consider a song or record successful it does well in the charts or sells like pancakes. We also base an album’s success of its gold or platinum status or the number of nominations and awards it receive from award-giving bodies.
What you need to know is that a record’s success is relative. A song doesn’t have to rule the charts before it can be considered successful. Personally, the success of a record is dependent on how good the songs are. 311’s Music is an example.
In this album, 311 compiled all their earlier LPs. Songs like Do You Right, Feels So Good, and Fat Chance, because of their great quality, have all been popular. These songs are widely played in the band’s shows.
When you listen to the album, you will notice a mix of relaxing tunes and upbeat, loud songs that will definitely make you groove and even bang your head a bit. Nix Hex can really make some great loud music. The songs album will definitely not disappoint. You don’t have to be the rock-type of person to appreciate what 311 has to offer. Their playlist will really impress you. The band was able to combine excellent tunes to great lyrics. Chad Sexton will leave you in awe with his percussion skills while Tim Mahoney plays his guitar like no one can. And of course, SA Martinez will groove you with his rhymes.
You can go for months with nothing on your CD players but Music. 311 was able to come out with a great sounding record and managed to captivate their hardcore fans. This just goes to show that you don’t really have to be the hottest thing in the industry right now. All you need is a team of talented musicians to come up with a great-sounding record.

In today’s modern world, no one wants to spend time doing a lot of things. We are conditioned to have instant gratification. This applies to learning a music instrument. People want to learn the guitar but they want to learn it fast. If you want to be great at the guitar, it will take a long time to learn the instrument but there are ways to learn the basics fast.

Several music stores allow rental of instruments for novice users. They even ensure that the instruments are in good condition and properly tuned to help their customers speed up their progress. You may even want to take advantage of the instructional materials these establishments offer to help your playing lessons effectively. The things that you can use to learn guitar fast are necessary for you earn the playing skills systematically.
Another key factor on how to learn guitar fast is to have someone teach you how to do the tricks. An instructor can help you learn some basic knowledge for you to explore on your own. Most people start their lessons by trying some simple chord patterns and asking out their mentor if they got it right. By this way, you can easily determine the methods that would produce the best sound and are very comfortable for your playing hands. However, you may want to pay your instructor generously in which could be a costly way of learning how to play.

The piano, which has been invented in the early 18th century by Bartolomeo Cristofori, Prince Ferdinand de Medici’s keyboard instrument maker, in Florence, Italy, is one of the most universally acclaimed musical instruments of all time. Although a lot of instruments have been invented, the piano is a class all its own since it can play different types of notes, soft or hard, high or low, which can be blended into different types of music, may it be jazz, classical, pop, rock, and other genres.
Pianos typically have 88 keys. A grand piano, which is the one being used most often at concerts and musicals and other types of grand entertainment, has about 10,000 parts. Learning to play the piano can be a daunting thing to anybody without the proper training and the proper background.
Most of us who had normal childhoods have had different types of tutorials and classes that we have, at one point, attended. Our parents think that going through the different lessons or classes will be able to mould us into what we will be in the future when we grow up. More likely than not, they have enrolled us in piano lessons in the hopes that we will be able to develop the talent. Not a lot succeed, though, since not all people would really like to learn it.
Anybody, though, can learn to play the piano, of course. All you need to have is the drive and the want to be able to learn it and to become successful in it as well. Here are the basics:
1. To be able to learn how to play the piano, you need to be familiar first with the different keys. Take note that from left to right, the notes become higher, and to be able to play it well, you need to know where your hands are supposed to be. The most basic note that you should start with is the Middle C.
2. You might be wondering why there are black keys in between the white keys. The white keys are the natural notes or tones, while the black keys are the tones in between the natural ones. Be familiar of the notes – A, B, C, D, E, F, and G, along with the sharp notes and the flat notes.
3. There are three pedals in a piano that you should know how to use. The leftmost one is the soft pedal or the una corda, the middle one is the sostenuto pedal, and the rightmost one is the damper pedal. Other pianos only have two pedals. They are used to modify the tones when playing the piano.
These are the basics that you need to know about the piano. When you learn to play the piano, you will be able to find out a myriad of interesting things.
