Picking Out The Best Paintball Barrel

Friday, July 10th, 2009

If you are a paintball player, then you know that the type of barrel that is on your paintball gun can play a major factor in speed and shot accuracy. That is why I am here to cover some of the different paintball barrels that there are, and which one would benefit you the most.

There are three main types of paintball gun barrels that are used these days.

Polished paintball gun barrels will be the first type that I am going to cover. When the paintball is shot, there is no rifle action going on inside of the barrel as in other types of barrels. Many believe this will allow the paintball to travel further.

When it comes to price the polish barrel design is better on the budget with a couple of exceptions. All in all, the polish barrels are the most commonly used barrel inside of a paintball gun.

One of my favorites, the no spin paintball gun barrel. When the paintball is propelled from the barrel, its spin is reduced dramatically from the grooved rifling that is inside of the barrel, similar to the way a cannon ball is shot from a cannon. The less the paintball spins the more accurate the aiming will become.

Of course the no spin paintball gun barrels come in many different models, you will get what you pay for. I am sure that the more expensive paintball gun barrels are much more accurate than the cheaper no spin paintball barrels that are out there in the market today.

The third kind of paintball barrel is the spin rifling barrel. This concept uses the helix-pattern barrel concept. Dissimilar the no spin barrel which has the linear grooves, this type of barrel will have grooves that twist down the length of the barrel.

The more that the paintball is able to spin in a uniform motion, the less it will be bothered by factors such as wind. Not only that, it will also travel much faster and in most cases more further than its counterpart no spin paintball gun barrel.
